INSECTIPRO AGRI

MORE FOOD ON LESS LAND

65% of the productive land in Africa is degraded due to poor agricultural practices with 60% of the population depending on land and forests for their livelihoods; coupled with intensity of climate change increases vulnerability for households At 2oC of warming, various regions are facing increased frequency and severity of extreme weather conditions i.e., droughts and floods, which is expected to reduce yields in Africa by 10%.

Pattern

THE CHALLENGES

Degradation Of Soils

Increased usage of synthetic fertilizer will drive further degradation of soil and contamination of water resources. High intensity of synthetic fertilizer production could lead to additional annual emissions of 100m+ tons of CO2e3

Import Reliance

Overreliance on imports of synthetic fertilizer (90% imported2) exposes Africa to considerable price fluctuations (up to 107% in recent years) impacting food production and food security on the continent.

Low Yields

There is a large and increasing food gap due to low agricultural yields (Africa’s production is 42% lower than the global average1).

SOLUTION

HOW DO WE SOLVE IT?

With our 100% organic fertigro fertilizer we are able to:

  • Offer and affordable organic fertilizer in the market
  • Increase in crop productivity for small holder farmers
  • Reduce the use of pesticides in the fields
  • Increase of water holding capacity in the soil
  • Improve soil aeration and acidity boosting life in the soil
  • Provide a local fertilizer reducing transport costs

IT’S A PRODUCT AND A PRACTICE

For optimal results we highly recommend to apply some easy regenrative agriculture practices. We organize different trainings in Bomet and Meru.

TESTIMONIALS

Increase Yield Sorghum

This farmer went from 600kg production to 800kg production on the same piece of land due to the usage of Fertigro.

Pesticides

This farmer used the Fertigro on her Maize and experienced no pests during the entire season. Other farmers have also noted a decrease in pesticides used.

Water Retention

A farmer who increased her production from 163kg to 223 kg due to the use of Fertigro. Even though she planted the sorghum for Fertigro later then the sorghum grown with DAP.
