HOW IT STARTED

PROTEIN GAP

InsectiPro started its journey at the end of 2018. The founder (Talash Huijbers) comes from an agricultural family and as a newly graduate she was planning on farming fish in her home country Kenya. As it was promoted as the next frontier in the protein industry. While doing research she quickly found out the problems that the animal feed industry is facing in Kenya. Instead of joining the problem she decided to solve the problem for others.


This research led to insects which led to the start of InsectiPro. InsectiPro now believes that insects are the missing piece in our food and value chains. Together with her team she is dedicated to improve the current food industry where inclusivity and insect products are the main drivers.

Food-chain-gers, (noun) (plural), people who are dedicated to make a positive change within existing food and value chains. A combination of food- and value chains & changing.

Why Insects?

Where most people try to get rid of insects, we farm them on a large scale.

They are a sole food source for many animals (livestock such as poultry, pigs, and fish) and are also harvested for human consumption all over the world (Globally, there are about 1900 edible insect species with 552 of these consumed in Africa).
